The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, " If someone comes to you [with a marriage proposal], and you are pleased with his religious commitment and moral character, then give in marriage to him. If you do not, there will be tribulation on earth and corruption." They (the Companions) inquired, "Messenger of God, what if he has (other shortcomings)? (1)" He replied by saying three times," If someone comes to you [with a marriage proposal], and you are pleased with his religious commitment and moral character, then give in marriage to him. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, came to me the day I was to be married and sat on my bed as you (Khalid Ibn-Thakwān) are sitting now. Our young girls were playing their drums and singing in praise of my father and paternal uncles killed in the battle of Badr, until one of them said, “And among us is a Prophet who knows what the future holds.” The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him told her: “Refrain from saying this and carry on with what you were saying before.” Click on ḥadīth to read more
